NACEL 2024 May Update

1. Participation update

Thank you for your ongoing participation in NACEL 2024. Data collection for NACEL opened on January 1st 2024, participation rates continue to increase, see an update on data submission figures below.

We ask that you continue to engage with bereaved loved ones, and staff, to encourage their participation in the NACEL Quality Survey and Staff Reported Measure respectively. Both surveys are crucial to assessing the experience of care delivery.

For more information about data collection and for a reminder of the timescales, please review the audit guidance.

Call to action – Share what’s working for your Trust!

Since data collection opened, we have witnessed enthusiastic participation from many organisations. While there are organisations with great response rates for the Quality Survey and Staff Survey, we also recognise that some organisations are experiencing barriers that are making it difficult to collect responses.

Whether you're from a large or small hospital, if you have any tips, suggestions or examples of things that are working well in your organisation, we'd love to hear from you.

Email the NACEL Team to share your good practice

2. DIT Access

The NACEL Data and Improvement Tool (beta) (DIT) is now up and running, displaying data from the Quality Survey. If you don’t yet have an account and would like access to the DIT, please register here.

If you are a NACEL Site Administrator for the DIT, please continue to check for any pending users and grant access. Staff will not be able to access the DIT until access has been granted by their organisation's NACEL Site Administrator(s).

3. DIT drop-in sessions

Drop-in sessions for the DIT are now available for registration!

There are two sessions currently available for sign up. The first session will run on Tuesday 14th May and the second on Thursday 16th May. Both sessions will run from 12:00 - 13:00.

These sessions are intended to help you get the most out of the DIT by taking you through the various new features. There will also be opportunities to ask questions throughout the session.

4. Dying Matters Week

Hospice UK’s Dying Matters Week Campaign is happening from 5th-12th May 2024. This year the theme is ‘The way we talk about Dying Matters’. Good communication is essential to delivering excellent care at the end of life and is an important element of NACEL.

The NACEL Team have created a social media pack which includes example social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, and Newsletter content) posts for organisations to use to highlight their participation in NACEL, and to help spread awareness of Dying Matters Week. Please share this pack with your communications department and start the conversation about Dying Matters Week.
